FAQ

Do all cast members work full-time at Area 51 Tattoo?

No they don't. Although the show is filmed on location at Area 51 in Springfield, OR, other than owner/cast member Chris 51 the remainder of the cast split their time between Area 51 and owning/workng at other shops around the globe. The assembled dream team cast of best friends can often be found traveling to conventions together around the world.

How soon can I get in?

Scheduling varies per artist. Please contact the artist of your choice directly for availability. If you visit Area 51 we have other artists (Casey and Kyler, who appear in the background of Epic Ink but aren't main cast members) who may also be available at a slightly lower rate.

What are the artist rates?

The entire cast charges the same amount, $200 per hour. However, consultations are free.

Do I need to place a deposit to schedule an appointment?

Yes. We require a one hour ($200) non-refundable deposit. We accept cash and Paypal for those who aren't local.

How do I go about being tattooed on the show?

All appointments are set through a casting agency for the show. We regularly post information and updates about show casting, scheduling, and appearances on our Area 51 Tattoo facebook page. Please like https://www.facebook.com/Area51Tattoo to follow all up-to-date information.

How do I decide which artist is right for me?

Our artists have very unique and individual styles. We advise that you view their galleries on our Area 51 Tattoo facebook page or their individual page.

Can you tattoo over a scar?

Yes we can but it depends on how old the scar is, how big, and how traumatic.

Do you have to be 18 to get tattooed in Oregon or can you have parent consent?

You have to be 18 years old. Oregon does not offer the parental consent option.

Will we do cover ups and or add to an existing tattoo?

Most often yes.

Will we add text and or dates in our art?

Most likely not. We highly believe adding text/dates takes away from the art itself and attracts the eye right to the text.
